Strokestown 1-12, Elphin 2-7. (venue: Strokestown) The 'Town picked up their first two points in the league with a good win over neighbours Elphin. Both teams were understrength but it was the greater hunger from the black and amber which won out in the end. Town led by 5 points at one stage during the second half thanks to some great forward play and a goal by the 'Duck'. But Elphin managed to pull back the defecit and the game was all square with 5 minutes to play. But it was in this period where the 'town showed the greater composure and hunger and found the scores that got them off the mark in the league for 2011. Team: John McHugh, Ian Rogers, Niall Brogan, Damian Caslin, Donal Molloy, Daniel Rogers, Philip Duignan, Seamus Collins, Matty Colum, Thomas Hughes, Kenny Bosquette, RuaidhrĂ Molloy, Enda Molloy, Thomas Shanagher, Conor Silke.
