Senior League/O'Rourke Cup 05/06/2011

Strokestown 3-9, St Brigid's 1-8. Venue: Kiltoom

The senior team continued their impressive league form with a convincing win away to county champions St Brigid's. 'Town were very much the superior team throughout having gained dominance in mid-field through Seamie Collins and Matty Collum. 'Town rubber stamped their dominance in the first half with goals coming from Ruaidhrí Molloy and a Dermot Lohan screamer (a St Brigid's defender kicked it off Dermot as he was on the ground and it just crossed the line). Town led at half-time by 2-6 to 0-3. St Brigid's did mount somewhat of a comeback but Town were always able to pick off a score when it was needed to keep the gap between the teams and the game was sealed in the dying moments when Paddy Brogan latched onto a through ball and finished well into the bottom corner.
This win keeps the Town at the top of the league table with 4 games left to play.
